On the penultimate SmackDown before WrestleMania 38, we saw a lot of intriguing things. Rousey and Charlotte had a heated back and forth on the mic, a member of the New Day made his return (no, not Big E) and Brock Lesnar absolutely snapped. In this article, we look at what we learned in this week’s episode on SmackDown.

Ronda Rousey is getting better on the mic

Ronda Rousey has always been a great fighter and her CV of great fights is unmatched. The only thing missing from her arsenal is that she cannot cut a promo as well as some of the other top stars. There were times when the fans would boo her and go for a toilet break.

But ever since she came back at the Royal Rumble, something seems to have changed. She is able to tell stories properly and it was evident in this week’s episode when she stumbled while saying the name of the SmackDown Women’s Championship but shook it off and moved on and that is something Rousey wouldn’t have done a couple of years ago. It was proof of her building confidence and that only bodes well for the future.

An underwhelming return for King Xavier

We have not seen Xavier Woods on TV for several months now because of his injury but the member of the New Day returned on SmackDown to take on Ridge Holland. There wasn’t any fanfare surrounding him which was disappointing.

His match against Ridge Holland was also quick and it failed to show Woods’ wrestling ability, hardly the comeback match that he was hoping for. There is still no news on whether any of these men will be involved at WrestleMania and matches like this will not help.

The Beast snaps

Brock Lesnar managed to intimidate Roman Reigns last week when he mowed down his SUV and lifted it up with a forklift. This week’s show started off with Kayla Braxton talking to Lesnar outside Roman’s locker room. The Beast then went inside and destroyed the locker room much to the cheers of the Brooklyn crowd.

Lesnar was then shown on the big screen and went on to decimate the SUV of Roman Reigns.

It was a surreal sight to see the Beast make his way through the fans but sadly a confrontation between the two behemoths didn’t take place as Lesnar was confronted Reigns’ security guards who then happened to feel the wrath of the WWE champion. We have one final episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania and it will be interesting to see what happens next week.
