This week’s SmackDown was an exhilarating show that saw the RAW tag team champions RK-Bro take on the SmackDown tag team champions The Usos in a bid to unify the WWE tag team titles. The match was originally scheduled to take place at WrestleMania Backlash but it happened on SmackDown. The show also featured the latest in the rivalry between New Day and Fight Night, as well as a match between former intercontinental champions as Shinsuke Nakamura battled Sami Zayn. In this article, we will take a detailed look at what transpired on SmackDown.

SmackDown results in detail

The Bloodline open the show

Roman Reigns came out much to the cheers of the crowd and his special counsel Paul Heyman delivered a classic promo in the only way he can. Win or don’t come back was the message he gave to The Usos before their main event match vs RK-Bro. Heyman told the story of the Samoan Dynasty and The Bloodline’s place in it before revealing that if Jimmy and Jey are not successful in tonight’s match, they will no longer be a part of the Bloodline.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn

Up next, two former Intercontinental Champions went head to head as Sami Zayn took on Shinsuke Nakamura. Zayn controlled the match in the opening moments after Nakamura suffered a bad fall from the top rope. Shinsuke, however, fought back but found himself barely staving off a countout. After a few great moments where both men had near fall after near fall, Zayn thought he was in the driver’s seat but Nakamura delivered a Kinshasa for the win.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

Drew Gulak vs Gunther

Drew Gulak has been in somewhat of a slump of late and it continued this week too. One week after Gunther got his hands on him, Drew decided to talk him on again in what was a very unwise decision. The match went on as expected as Gunther dominated Gulak from the off. The monster threw around Gulak like a ragged doll and outmuscled and outwrestled him in every department before picking up a one-sided win. After the match, Gunther applied a Boston crab which made Ricochet come up to make the save teasing a feud between the two.

Winner: Gunther

Raquel Rodriguez vs Shotzi

One week after impressing against Ronda Rousey, Raquel Rodriguez took on Shotzi. Before the match, Raquel was called “weak” and “a choker” by Shotzi and Aliyah in a backstage segment. Once the match got underway, Raquel took Shotzi to the cleaners and dominated her. She then delivered a corkscrew splash before hitting a one-handed powerbomb for an impressive win. She impressed last week and will look to continue doing so as she looks to make a mark in the SmackDown women’s division.

Winner: Raquel Rodriguez

Xavier Woods vs Butch

This rivalry is showing no signs of ending. Xavier Woods decided to come out with Kofi Kingston in tow. Seeing this, even Butch opted to come out alone leaving his Fight Night buddies in the back. The match got underway as both men got to it from the time the bell rang. Butch dominated proceedings and slowly targetted Woods but Woods being the wily customer that he is used Butch’s enthusiasm against him and scored a pin for a second straight win.

Winner: Xavier Woods

RK-Bro vs The Usos

After all the hype, The Usos and RK-Bro finally faced each other in the main event. What made things even more interesting was the apparent hip injury suffered by Riddle, which saw Randy Orton come in late and unload on Jimmy and Jey. As Riddle tried for a top-rope RKO, Roman Reigns appeared from out of nowhere and interfered which allowed Jey to launch himself from the top rope with a splash for the win and unify the tag team titles.

Winner: The Usos
