With WrestleMania quickly approaching, the schedule continued to fill out with significant matches announced during Monday’s episode of Raw. The primary topic of the night, though, was the continuation of Sami Zayn’s and The Bloodline’s tales.

Zayn protected Kevin Owens from an attack early in the night, but Owens made it plain that he still did not trust Zayn and was unwilling to cooperate with his former best buddy. Nevertheless, towards the end of the show, Zayn thought Jey Uso had chosen him over his brother, Jimmy Uso, only for Jey to turn on him and join his Bloodline family members in assaulting Zayn, with Owens not returning the favor of making the save.

WWE RAW match card

  • Kevin Owens vs Solo Sikoa
  • Bianca Belair vs Carmella
  • Omos vs Dolph Ziggler
  • Finn Balor vs Johnny Gargano
  • Nikki Cross vs Piper Niven
  • Chad Gable vs Baron Corbin
  • Jimmy Uso vs Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens vs Solo Sikoa

The show began with a shot of the majority of The Bloodline entering backstage. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa discussed their roles on the program with Paul Heyman. In the first bout, Sikoa faced Kevin Owens, who has been a major thorn in The Bloodline’s side.

The match was as if two brawlers doing their thing. They weren’t simply throwing punches; this was hard-hitting and seemed personal. Several smashes and other actions were blended in. We just didn’t see any chain wrestling, which isn’t necessarily a negative thing when it’s only two people.

Sikoa took control as Jimmy ran down and distracted KO. As the broadcast went to commercial, he smacked Owens with two big hip strikes. Sikoa dominated the match throughout the commercial. The Prize Fighter made a comeback, but Jimmy broke up a pin, resulting in a disqualification. This was both anticipated and frustrating. Sikoa and Owens were having a fantastic match, but this effectively ended it.

Winner: Kevin Owens by DQ

Bianca Belair vs Carmella

Carmella was back in action this week against the WWE RAW women’s champion, Bianca Belair, after facing Asuka last week. Though this was a non-title fight, The Princess of Staten Island was hoping that a victory would earn her a championship opportunity, and she even had Chelsea Green in her corner to help her.

They had a terrific early exchange in which both ladies demonstrated their athleticism. While the champ got the upper hand initially, Carmella turned things around just as the broadcast went to commercial.

Green kept Belair from scoring a pin, but Carmella was unable to capitalize on the opportunity when her superkick only gained her a two-count. To get rid of Green, the EST hurled her over the railing before finishing off Mella with a KOD.

Winner: Bianca Belair

Following a commercial break, The Miz returned to the ring to welcome Logan Paul to WWE Raw for his match with Seth Rollins. It just took a few seconds for Rollins to exit the ring once Paul entered. The crowd kept singing along to Rollins’ song for a long time, so Paul got some flak for urging everyone to stop because they were running out of time.

When The Miz fueled the flames, Rollins and Paul swapped insults. The Visionary ended up facing The Miz and Paul, but the numbers game got up with him, as he was knocked out by Paul.

Omos vs Dolph Ziggler

Omos was accompanied by MVP for his next bout against Dolph Ziggler. Mustafa Ali was in the audience, appearing to applaud The Showoff. Ziggler attempted to leap on Omos’ back, but the giant easily flung him to the ground. He beat Ziggler in under a minute. This was a very easy contest for Omos.

Winner: Omos

Finn Balor vs Johnny Gargano

Dexter Lumis followed Johnny Gargano to the ring for his bout against Finn Balor, who was backed up by the whole Judgment Day squad. After a swift shoulder tackle, the leader of Judgment Day grabbed control before flooring, Johnny, with an armbar. Gargano was unable to establish any form of offense in the first few minutes.

Gargano didn’t make any progress until after the commercial break. He gained momentum as he executed a sequence of maneuvers that culminated in a slingshot spear for a two-count. They weren’t attempting to equal some of their recent efforts, but they put up a good TV contest. Edge’s music began to play as Balor prepared to end Gargano.

Edge knocked Balor over the top rope while Damien Priest and Rhea Ripley were watching up the ramp. This gave Gargano the opportunity to hit The Final Beat for the pin and the victory.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Nikki Cross vs Piper Niven

Nikki Cross ended up costing Piper Niven her match against Candice LeRae last week, so Niven had an opportunity to get her hands on Cross this week in order to exact some retaliation. Nikki assaulted Piper as she entered the room. The ref rang the bell just as the former Doudrop was put down with a crossbody. Niven comfortably overcame Cross after regrouping.

Winner: Piper Niven

John Cena returns, confirms his WrestleMania 39 match

The WWE Universe greeted John Cena enthusiastically. During his entrance, he jokingly pointed towards the WrestleMania sign and said into the camera. He couldn’t even reach the microphone to his mouth before Austin Theory’s music started playing.

The US champion stated he only became a WWE Superstar because of Cena, and he wanted to thank him. He offered Cena a WrestleMania bout. Cena told him flatly no and that he wasn’t interested since Theory hadn’t earned the right yet. He chased Theory down and told him how amazing he might be if anybody cared about him. Theories made fun of Cena’s bald patch, which Cena displayed to the camera to prove he didn’t mind. Cena, predictably, accepted the challenge for ‘Mania.

Chad Gable vs Baron Corbin

Chad Gable was out with Otis to face Baron Corbin in a singles bout. We noticed Maxxine Dupri earlier in the night making additional arrangements to get Otis into her stable. The audience chanted for Otis. But Gable was being dominated by Corbin, but the former Olympian was able to get some momentum and execute the Ankle Lock for a submission win.

Winner: Chad Gable

Jimmy Uso vs Sami Zayn

The main event was about to begin. Jimmy and Zayn had been shown chatting with different individuals throughout the night, but it was now time for them to meet one on one in the ring. The audience was firmly in Zayn’s support as he and Jimmy quickly took the battle out of the ring. When the event came to a close with Zayn in command, ole chants rang across the crowd.

As we returned, Jimmy was talking trash and Zayn was attempting to make a comeback after spending the commercial break on defense. WWE granted them the last 25 minutes of the event, meaning they had to fight through two commercial breaks.

Jey Uso arrived at the end and took a seat at the announcement table. He looked to be rooting for his brother, but Zayn took advantage of his presence and the diversion it provided to pin Jimmy out of nowhere.

The Usos confronted each other in the ring, and their expressions revealed a story. The audience became hushed as Jey walked out of the ring and hugged Zayn. As Jimmy went to his knees, the audience erupted in applause.

Jey then nailed Zayn with a superkick out of nowhere. He yelled at Zayn, “This is about family!” and pounded him down with Jimmy and Solo until Cody Rhodes came down to save him.

Winner: Sami Zayn
