At NXT Vengeance Day, NXT Champion Bron Breakker will make his first title defence against Santos Escobar, the leader of La Familia.
Over the previous several weeks, “The Emperor” has expressed his unhappiness with Breakker’s fast climb to the top of NXT 2.0, claiming that the young champion is too inexperienced to carry the title flag and expressing his disgust that Breakker won the NXT Title before him.
Breakker acquired the championship after running roughshod over the likes of LA Knight and Roderick Strong while leading his team to win at NXT WarGames in just over a month after making his debut, finally defeating Tommaso Ciampa in a rematch at New Year’s Evil.
Cameron Grimes promised to win gold in 2022, and he’s one step closer to doing it after defeating Tony D’Angelo at NXT Vengeance Day to earn a shot at Carmelo Hayes’ North American Championship.
Grimes called his opportunity at Hayes’ championship his first night back in the ring this year, surviving a show-stealing bout against D’Angelo to set up a Vengeance Day showdown with Hayes.
The North American Title has been held by the self-proclaimed “A Champion” of NXT for nearly 100 days, beating would-be opponents including Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne.
Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta, best friends, have been on a roll in 2022 with one objective in mind: the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. The team has been itching to dethrone Toxic Attraction, assisting Kay Lee Ray and defeating Gigi Dolin in their Six-Woman Tag Team Clash.
Dolin & Jacy Jayne have done everything they can to stay on top since becoming champions at Halloween Havoc, and they’re on the verge of setting a new record. After hurting former champion Zoey Stark and putting her on the bench, the toxic three have exploited their numbers to run through all competitors until they reached the formidable Pirotta.

Pete Dunne and Tony D’Angelo’s enmity embodies Vengeance Day. Since their first meeting at NXT WarGames, “The Baddest Man” and “The Made Man” have traded vicious strikes, destroying each other’s hands and championship dreams with crowbars and cricket bats. With his trusty crowbar, D’Angelo had battered Dunne black and blue, shattering his hand over the announce table before pounding The BruiserWeight with the weapon to finish off a devastating Crowbar on a Pole Match.
With so much hostility, the rivalry will end in the same place it began: a steel cage.

After overcoming Jacket Time and upstarts Malik Blade & Edris Enofé on their ascent, Wes Lee & Nash Carter are one step closer to realizing their ambition of returning to the pinnacle and becoming back-to-back Dusty Cup Champions.
