This week has not been kind to professional wrestlers when it comes to injuries. The biggest story of the weekend was the fractured foot of the new AEW World Champion, CM Punk. You have an issue when Scorpio Sky has a leg injury and Bryan Danielson misses a Meet & Greet due to probable injuries. Just hours before his Hell in a Cell battle against Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes might now be added to that list.

On this morning’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke the news. Multiple wrestlers within WWE told him that Cody Rhodes had hurt himself during weight training, with most assuming it was a torn pec. Last night in Champaign, IL, Rhodes and Rollins decided to run a fast angle instead of a street fight with Seth Rollins.

Meltzer and co-host Bryan Alvarez speculated on what this means for tonight’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. The prudent course of action would be to cancel the match and get Rhodes the surgery he requires to recuperate. Rhodes, on the other hand, is known for his old-school approach, and he may be aiming to be cleared tonight so he can work the match.

If injury is serious Cody Rhodes may take a time off

In any case, if Rhodes’ injury is serious, we should anticipate him to miss some time following tonight. He may just want the opportunity to put Rollins over first, assuring a successful conclusion to their current feud. Since WrestleMania, they’ve been fighting, with Rhodes winning both singles battles. Following his stint at AEW, Rhodes has established himself as one of the company’s top talents, with fans fawning over him. There’s even a chance he’ll be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns as WWE Champion at Summerslam later this year. From Cody’s tweet, it can be said that he will be performing in the Hell in a Cell PPV but for his injury it is still unkown how severe it may get.
