On Sunday, WrestleMania Backlash will take place in Providence. The PPV will not only include rematches from WrestleMania 38, but it will also help set the stage for some of WWE’s most major events this summer. The absence of a men’s world title fight is the main reason why WrestleMania Backlash feels no more relevant than a Raw or SmackDown show. Instead of defending his championship, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will join up with his cousins The Usos to face Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro in a six-man tag battle.
The Usos were supposed to face Randy Orton and Riddle in a tag team title unification match, but it was modified to a six-man tag match with no stakes. Regrettably, Reigns won’t be defending his belt at the PPV. The uncontested championship should be the major emphasis of WWE programming right now after Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE and universal crowns at WrestleMania. Setting stage for Drew McIntyre vs Roman Reigns for coming PPV’s, it would be somthing to see what both men have to offer in ther 6-man tag team match.
