Rhea Ripley in WWE

After Bennett joined WWE in 2017, it was revealed that she would compete in the first Mae Young Classic as Rhea Ripley. She won over Miranda Salinas in the opening round before falling to Dakota Kai. On the 25 October 2017 episode of NXT, Ripley made her NXT television debut. She took part in a battle royal for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: WarGames on November 18, a match that was won by Nikki Cross.

Ripley competed in an eight-woman tournament to crown the first NXT UK Women’s Champion during the show’s August tapings. She won the first round match against Xia Brookside, the semifinal match against Dakota Kai, and the championship match against Toni Storm to become the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion. Ripley became the first person to have won both the NXT Women’s and NXT UK Women’s Championships when she defeated Shayna Baszler to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. On January 25, 2020 at Worlds Collide, she faced Toni Storm and retained the title.

Main Roster

On the Raw programme airing on March 22nd, Ripley made her main roster debut by challenging Asuka to a fight for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37. The bout was slated to take place on the second night of WrestleMania on April 11 after Asuka accepted Ripley’s challenge. Ripley defeated Asuka at WrestleMania 37 to claim the Raw Women’s Championship. After WrestleMania, Ripley defended the championship against Asuka on the Raw, but Charlotte Flair interfered and attacked both women, resulting in a no-contest.

Ripley and Asuka’s rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship was originally slated for WrestleMania Backlash, but WWE official Sonya Deville added Flair to the fight to make it a triple threat match on the May 3 episode of Raw. Ripley successfully defended her championship in the 16 May event by pinning Asuka. Ripley lost to Flair at Hell in a Cell on June 20 due to a technicality, but Ripley kept her championship. At Money in the Bank on July 18, Ripley lost the championship to Flair, ending her 98-day reign. In a triple threat match against the champion Nikki A. S. H. and Flair at SummerSlam on August 21, she was unable to win back the title.
