WWE SmackDown on Friday night drew a disproportionate amount of attention. WWE said Vince McMahon will appear live on the show after stepping down as CEO and chairman of the company amid claims of wrongdoing, including a sexual encounter with a female employee. When you add in a bout between Roman Reigns and Riddle for Reigns’ uncontested worldwide championship, you have a recipe for a night with higher-than-usual ratings.
While McMahon’s participation was just to boost McMahon’s ego, Reigns and Riddle put on a fantastic match before Reigns triumphed. Then, when “The Tribal Chief” defeated Lesnar to unify the WWE and global belts at WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar made his comeback, making it apparent that he still had his heart set on Reigns.
Some fans were in disbelief as Brock Lesnar returned to be the next opponent to fight Roman Reigns for his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. Also, some fans didn’t like the fact of again setting Reigns and Lesnar as they both have had more than enough face-offs. Also, this week’s Smackdown offered a title match which Reigns-Riddle successfully sold out to the crowd making it match of the night.
