As WWE fans, we all have our own dream matches where we pit one superstar against the other and in some cases, it does come to fruition but the one instance where WWE missed the boat was when they could have had The Undertaker take on Sting. Sting was a WCW guy through and through and he proved it when WCW ceased to exist. All the top WCW stars jumped ship to WWE and for good reason, but Sting did not do that. He was to WCW what The Undertaker was to WWE and chose to trod a different path.

After 13 long years and various stints in different organizations, mainly TNA, Sting made his long-awaited debut in the WWE and he made a very big impact on his first night. The Vigilante made his presence felt at the Survivor Series pay-per-view in 2014 where he walked down the ring and helped John Cena and his team defeat The Authority and put them out of power. It was truly a jaw-dropping moment and had the whole WWE universe buzzing. He immediately was involved in a very underwhelming feud with Triple H that culminated in a match at WrestleMania 31 where Sting lost.

Taker should have taken on Sting at WrestleMania 31

There was one match that wrestling fans across the spectrum wanted to see and that was Sting vs The Undertaker. The story writes itself. Two men who are known as stalwarts of their respective companies, well-respected veterans and most importantly, had a dark side to their persona. Sting with the crow persona that terrified WCW  during its time and The Undertaker, who was the Deadman. In a way, both men had the same wrestling style too. Sting had the Stinger Splash while Taker had Old School. The Icon had the Scorpion Death Drop while The Deadman had the Tombstone Piledriver.

So, at WrestleMania 31, instead of Sting taking on Triple H and The Undertaker taking on Bray Wyatt, the WWE should have pitted both men against each other. The Undertaker was no longer undefeated at WrestleMania as he lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. A match against the Stinger would have given a new dimension to WrestleMania and to Taker as well. As for Sting, it would have been the perfect match to make his mark in the WWE and build on what was an already intriguing persona. Alas, it was not to be and the WWE missed a big opportunity to write a new chapter in the storied career of two legends.
