Shane McMahon is said to be facing a lot of backstage pressure in WWE. This is due to his involvement in creating this year’s men’s Royal Rumble.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Shane had a more hands-on role this year. This comes after he helped produce the 2020 and 2021 Rumbles.

Vince assigned him to the 2022 men’s match, which, like the women’s, was repeatedly cut and modified. This is despite the fact that he isn’t a regular WWE producer.

While “those on the inside” were informed of the Rumble winners, others in the organization were not.

Shane came at 28 in the Royal Rumble and made it all the way to the final three. He was then eliminated by eventual champion Brock Lesnar.

Along the way, McMahon threw Kevin Owens out from the match. The 52-year-old also notably beat former UFC fighter Riddle in a stand-up striking contest.

According to Meltzer, the reports that Shane has a beef with the locker room are true. Shane was described as “confrontational and gung-ho” while arguing to put himself over, fighting with people along the way.

A Ringside News report claimed McMahon “tried to book the Rumble around himself” and freely entombed producer Jamie Noble. It’s logical that him doing this might annoy full-time roster members.

According to reports from Monday, McMahon is planning a major WWE heel run that would include appearances at Elimination Chamber 2022 and WrestleMania 38.

WWE’s Plans for Shane McMahon During WrestleMania 38

Shane McMahon made a surprising comeback to the WWE on Saturday night, wrestling in his first match since losing to Braun Strowman inside a Steel Cage at WrestleMania 37 and making it all the way to the final three before being eliminated by eventual winner Brock Lesnar.

On Monday, PWInsider reported that McMahon will be returning to the Raw brand in the near future, again as a heel.

McMahon will compete in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match at the pay-per-view the next month, then face Austin Theory at WrestleMania 38, according to DAZN’s Steven Muehlhausen later in the day.

Since stealing Shane McMahon’s golden egg at Survivor Series, Theory has been collaborating with Shane’s father, Vince McMahon.

But after today’s Monday night RAW it looks like Shane won’t be part of the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match. So, let’s wait for further updates on Shane’s future in WWE.
