Yesterday night (Saturday, January 28, 2023) at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Roman Reigns made it clear via WWE that he wanted Sami Zayn by his side all night. Universal Title defense against Kevin Owens. Despite proving himself over and over again, Reigns refused to trust Zayn and wanted him closer. Here he underwent what Reigns called his “final test”. WWE promoted it with a nifty video package just before the match, calling it “The Final Chapter.” How does this all happen? The referee jabbed and Reigns told Zayn to give him a chair. Owens recovered in time to hit the stunner in incredible close combat. Moments later, Zayn asked Owens to stay downstairs with him.”Please stop,” he said several times. Reigns bang his KO’s head on the stairs multiple times and Sami comes to watch him do so.

Finally, at Mercy, with a spear and three count in the middle of the ring, Reigns defeated Owens to retain his WWE Universal Championship. But it didn’t end there. Before the whole of The Bloodline took the stage and Reigns made something happen, Reigns had Sami Zayn watch Usos boot the already finished Owens. Cornered, Solo Sikoa also tried him. Then the handcuffs came out and Owens tied both wrists to the top rope. He ate superkick after superkick after superkick. “I can’t even see, it sucks,” Michael Cole explained simply. And Sami was still watching. Zayn interrupts Reigns as he grabs a chair and tries to slam it into Owen’s head. “Beneath you! You don’t have to do this. You are better than that. You are.” Raines gave him a chair. “I shouldn’t have done that,” Reigns said. “You should do it.” Zayn didn’t want to. Reigns drove him. “He doesn’t care about you! He’s been dragging you around since day one! He’s the anchor. You’re important to me! I love you!” Zayn took a chair and lifted it up. “Pull the trigger,” Raines called. When he didn’t, Reigns punched him in the face. “You think this is a game!? That’s my life!” And Raines yelled at Owens again. So Sami did it. He hit Reigns in the back with a chair.

Jay Uso was devastated. Jimmy Uso responded with a barrage of superkicks and punches. Sorosikoa dumped Jimmy and caught Sami himself. The beating continued. Jimmy, Solo, and Reigns were there, charging at Zayn. But Jay wasn’t there. He stood in a corner, his head down, unsure. When his family asked him what he was doing, Jay slipped out of the ring and walked slowly down the long entrance hallway, covering his mouth with both hands. It looked like The remaining Bloodlines continued their attack on Zayn. Alamodome shouted to Reigns how he felt. “Kutabare Roman” and they left. Zayn lay helpless in the ring. Owens, still handcuffed to the rope, was also defeated. Pedigree stopped for one last look around the ring.
