Drew McIntyre’s disappearance from WWE programming is allegedly anticipated to continue for a short while longer amid rumors over his WWE future. McIntyre won’t be appearing on television for “at least the next few weeks,” according to sources. At WrestleMania 39, McIntyre made his last appearance on a WWE show as he competed in a Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship against Gunther and Sheamus. Gunther successfully pinned McIntyre to keep the title.

McIntyre in WWE

McIntyre initially worked for WWE from 2007 until his departure in 2014. After a prosperous period away from the organization, he rejoined WWE in 2017. The Scottish Warrior rose to prominence in the WWE, winning the men’s Royal Rumble battle in 2020 and going on to win two WWE championships. But it has been a while since McIntyre has enjoyed championship success due to Roman Reigns’ dominance of the main event scenario.

Due to the success of AEW as a side promotion, wrestlers like McIntyre and others have a lot of negotiating power now. It appears likely that McIntyre will sign a lucrative contract, whether it be with WWE or All Elite Wrestling. Following WrestleMania, McIntyre disabled his Twitter account, and a rumor that he had less than a year left on his deal appeared, raising the question of whether he intended to re-sign.

WWE reportedly delaying NXT call-ups

WWE allegedly had a valid reason for not introducing any NXT Superstars on Raw or SmackDown following WrestleMania 39. The Raw and SmackDown after WrestleMania have historically had several big unexpected events, featuring NXT call-ups, however this wasn’t the case this year, with the only significant surprise being Matt Riddle’s comeback. Following the conclusion of NXT Stand & Deliver, several NXT stars appeared to be on their way to the main roster, including Bron Breakker, Grayson Waller, and maybe Roxanne Perez or Tiffany Stratton. Cameron Grimes, who has been off WWE programming since losing a match to Joe Gacy on an NXT broadcast in November, is another NXT talent to keep an eye on in the offseason.

WWE has shown its pool drawings, and while the visuals do not include any NXT Superstars, WWE is probably certainly aiming to keep them a surprise. Draught episodes of Raw and SmackDown have frequently failed to live up to expectation in the past, but having some surprising NXT call-ups could give the shows some redeeming qualities.
