The Usos have issued an update on Roman Reigns’ condition following his removal from WWE Day 1 due to a positive COVID-19 test. On January 1st, Roman Reigns revealed that he will be unable to appear at WWE’s Day 1 event that evening. At WWE’s first-ever New Year’s Day extravaganza, Reigns was set to defend his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar. The ‘Tribal Chief’ claimed on Twitter that he was looking forward to getting back into action as soon as possible.

Roman Reigns’ teammates in The Bloodline, and real-life cousins, The Usos, spoke to Sports Illustrated after successfully retaining the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships on Day 1 and provided an update on the ‘Head of the Table’s condition.

“It felt off not having the Tribal Chief around,” said Jey Uso. “This match was for him. We represented, and he’s going to be OK. He’s home resting, and maybe playing some Call of Duty. We’re going to see him back soon.”

The Usos simply want Reigns to be safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, said to Jimmy Uso. “We opened the show, and we’re so used to seeing The Big Uce close the show. This pandemic is crazy, and all we want is for him to be safe and take care of himself.”

Following the announcement that Reigns will no longer be appearing at the event, WWE added Brock Lesnar to the Fatal Four-Way fight for Big E’s WWE Championship. It turned out to be a wonderful opportunity for Lesnar, as he landed an F-5 on Big E and pinned him to win the championship during the tumultuous title contest.

Usos victorious on Day 1

The Usos had a good day themselves at the first WWE pay per view of the year as they overcome The New Day to retain the Smack Down tag team titles.

King Woods put on a show for his native kingdom of Atlanta, as he and Kofi Kingston had The Usos on the ropes early on, until Jimmy and Jey Uso’s deception gave the champs the upper hand. The two worked together to draw the referee’s attention away from the game and deliver a pair of vicious cheap shots to “The Hand of the King,” effectively isolating him.

After escaping the clutches of The Usos, Kingston tagged in King Woods, who cleared house. Woods looked to take out Jey Uso with a dive, but Jimmy Uso stepped in to absorb the blow. Jimmy Uso took advantage of the sacrifice with a corkscrew splash off the top rope and an assisted Samoan Drop for two-counts.

Kingston attempted for a quick rollup after a flurry of highlight-reel moments, but Jimmy Uso tagged himself in, and The Usos took over. They won with a 3-D, which Pat McAfee referred to as a 1-D.
