Rey Mysterio continues to earn career accolades in his fourth decade as a pro wrestler. For over two years, the iconic luchador has collaborated with his son, Dominik Mysterio. The father-son team has only won the SmackDown Tag Titles once since Dominik’s in-ring debut in Summer 2020.

With even gold under their belts, Rey and Dominik have lofty goals for themselves. Rey told Metro.co.uk that during the Showcase of the Immortals, he hopes to share the ring with his kid.

“There is definitely a WrestleMania moment that has yet to be seen next to my son,” Rey said.

Even saying it into reality surprises Rey, who has stated that everything he’s going through with Dominik right now is like something out of a dream.

Rey also added, “That is something that if you would have told me a year ago, that I was going to be able to share the ring with my son, let alone become tag-team champions – the first-ever in WWE – I would have said, ‘get out of here.”

Last May, Rey, and Dominik defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at WrestleMania Backlash to win the SmackDown Tag Titles. They would keep the championships for 62 days before losing them to the Usos later that summer at Money in the Bank. As part of the RAW brand, the Mysterios have since brought their skills to Monday nights.

Rey has accepted that he is reaching the end of his career, but he thinks he wants to capture that coveted WrestleMania moment with Dominik before he can ever contemplate retiring.

“Now things have just flourished and have manifested,” Mysterio said. “I’m putting this out in the world that I want to have a WrestleMania moment with my son before I end up hanging up the mask.”

Rey Mysterio in WWE 2k22

Rey Mysterio has had a lot on his plate recently. In contrast to his ring appearances, Mysterio has been appointed as an ambassador for the forthcoming WWE 2K22 game. The highly anticipated release’s cover star, Rey, was just unveiled. That may have influenced his WWE booking.

The WWE 2K22 video game, which will be released on March 11th, will have Rey Mysterio on the cover. This is the first time, that 2K has chosen a wrestler as the game’s cover performer who is marketed as a lower mid-carder.

Looks like WWE has more plans for Rey Mysterio and with him being on the cover WWE 2k22 is just a start.
