Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr (born April 5, 1986, Charlotte, North Carolina, United States) is a professional wrestler from America who currently works for WWE under the ring name Charlotte Flair. She comes from a second generation of professional wrestlers because she is Ric Flair's daughter. Alongside her father, Flair made her debut in professional wrestling in WCW in 1993. She started working out with WWE in 2012, and the following year she made her NXT debut. She was promoted to WWE's main roster in 2015 after winning Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Rookie of the Year award in 2014. Flair was named Top Female Professional Wrestler and Woman of the Year in 2016 by PWI readers.

Flair has held the WWE Divas Championship once, the Raw Women's Championship a record six times, and the SmackDown Women's Championship a record seven times. She is a 14-time women's world champion. She is a Triple Crown Champion and Grand Slam Champion because she has also won the NXT Women's Championship twice and the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship once. Charlotte joined NXT after signing a developmental deal with the company on May 17, 2012. She was trained by Sara Del Rey. On the July 17, 2013, episode of NXT, Flair defeated Bayley in her first televised singles bout under the ring name Charlotte. Late in 2013, Charlotte and Bayley formed a tag team, and on the NXT programme airing on September 4, the two women triumphed against Aksana and Alicia Fox.

The vacant NXT Women's Championship was up for grabs and Charlotte participated in an eight-woman tournament to win it. Charlotte won by defeating Natalya in the finals on May 29 at TakeOver, Alexa Bliss in the semifinals, and Emma in the first round. This was Charlotte's first WWE championship. Charlotte defended the women's championship against Summer Rae on NXT on July 24. Following her victory over Bayley at TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way on September 11, Charlotte intervened to stop Sasha Banks from attacking Bayley. Later, when Charlotte defeated Bayley again on the October 2 episode of NXT, she raised Bayley's arm as they hugged and shook hands, regaining her status as a fan favourite.
