Claudio Castagnoli (born December 27, 1980) is a Swiss professional wrestler who is most known for his time in WWE as Cesaro. Castagnoli competed in Ring of Honor (ROH) and indie organizations like Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), and Pro Wrestling Noah under his true name (PWN).

Cesaro is a successful tag team wrestler, having won the ROH World Tag Team Championship twice with his partner Chris Hero. Castagnoli began his wrestling career in his birthplace, under the tutelage of fellow Swiss wrestler SigMasta Rappo, and made his debut on December 24, 2000, in Essen, Germany, for Westside Xtreme Wrestling.

He began with a Japanese gimmick before switching to a Swiss financier, which he and Ares dubbed Swiss Money Holding. Dave Taylor provided Castagnoli with instruction when he was performing in England.

Cesaro in WWE

Cesaro sustained an injury in May that forced him to miss a year of activity. Castagnoli joined WWE in 2011 and began working for FCW. Before joining the main roster, he worked for FCW and NXT for a year. He debuted as Antonio Cesaro in 2012, winning the United States Championship at SummerSlam. On RAW, he dropped the title to Kofi Kingston after 239 days. He began working for NXT and the main roster at the same time in 2013.

Cesaro rose to fame in early 2014 after defeating Randy Orton on SmackDown Live. He won the inaugural André the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX.

Cesaro rose to popularity after recovering from injury and was featured in a number of championship matches. He began his feud with Sheamus in 2016, which culminated in a Best of 7 series. In the end, the match was a draw, and Cesaro and Sheamus established a tag team.

Cesaro spent most of 2019 on RAW, where he faced Aleister Black and Ricochet. They shifted him to SmackDown at the draught. He was defeated by Mansoor at Crown Jewel. He later formed an alliance with Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Cesaro’s most recent appearance came on SmackDown when he was defeated by Happy Corbin. Cesaro quit the organization in February.

The wrestler has been linked to Sara Del Rey, a professional wrestling teacher, and former professional wrestler, for some time. Sara Amato is his suspected girlfriend, according to WWE fans. Sara has also served as a manager for Cesaro throughout his tenure on the independent circuit. She is also in charge of teaching all of the female wrestlers that come through the Orlando performance facility.
