Mick Foley, a WWE Hall of Famer, has addressed a long-running rumor concerning The Undertaker. For many years, it has been commonly assumed that the guy behind the scary character, Mark Calaway, is scared of cucumbers. Bruce Prichard, a member of the WWE creative staff, recently remembered how Owen Hart irritated The Phenom by putting cucumbers in his iced beverage without his knowledge.

On the most recent edition of his podcast, Foley discussed The Undertaker’s old on-screen manager Paul Bearer. When asked about Bearer as a person behind the scenes, he corroborated reports about his fellow Hall of Famer’s cucumber aversion:

“Paul was the only guy who could make The Undertaker laugh, break character,” Foley said. “I don’t know if we’re allowed to talk about the C word – cucumber – here. I can say I was witness to it, and it’s true, darn true.” [1:26:08 – 1:26:27]

Michelle McCool reveals why The Undertaker is terrified of cucumbers

WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker has no fear of men, but he appears to have a dread of cucumbers. For years, the WWE Universe has placed The Deadman on a pedestal. Strange anxieties and phobias, on the other hand, simply serve to humanize The Phenom. Michelle McCool discussed her husband’s dread of the cucumber in depth on an episode of the Wives of Wrestling podcast.

“We can’t even have one in the room,” Michelle McCool said. “Every birthday, [daughter] Kaia gets cucumbers. She’ll like put them under his pillow, she’ll put them in his car. Cucumbers, he can’t even smell them … can’t even be around it. He ate so many cucumbers one day that he got sick, and ever since then, it was just game over.” [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

‘American Bad Ass > Deadman’ – WWE HOFer says about The Undertaker

On the “Raw is XXX” special edition, The Undertaker returned to WWE television as “The American Badass” for the first time in over 20 years, much to the pleasure of fellow WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. Ray said something during the live broadcast on Monday night in response to the Undertaker going down the ramp on a motorbike.

“American Bad Ass > Deadman. #WWERaw30,” Ray tweeted.

Fans who reacted to Ray’s opinion were split, with many arguing that “The American Badass” was truly an alter ego of The Deadman, and that the smack-talking biker gimmick never exuded the aura of mystique such as The Phenom.

Several others lamented the fact that Taker’s motorcycle-riding character was never revisited by WWE during the retired wrestler’s final few years. However, Taker did take the form of “The Unholy Trinity,” a combination of The Deadman, American Badass, and Mark Calaway, in his farewell Boneyard match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36.
