While Vince McMahon, the chairman of WWE, is said to have been less intrusive with his participation on the previous week’s SmackDown and this week’s Raw compared to he was with the Raw after WrestleMania 39, he is still reportedly making some creative adjustments to the scripts. McMahon allegedly made some “minor changes” to Raw, including changing the language in a few promos, as reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Felix Upton of Ringside News).

Fans revolted when Becky Lynch used the phrase “local medical facility” during a commercial depicting where Lita was transported after being attacked. It is unknown exactly which phrasing McMahon modified.

‘firmly in charge’

It is commonly known that McMahon favors the phrase “local medical facility” as opposed to “hospital,” implying that he may have had some say in the matter. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, McMahon was backstage and “firmly in charge” of the Raw following WrestleMania, since he had been on the microphone and made script changes during the show. From the time he bought WWE from his dad in 1982 until his departure this summer, McMahon was the primary creative power in the company. When McMahon stepped down, Triple H was promoted to creative director.

McMahon rejoined WWE as president of the board in January to enable a sale, which was completed last week when Endeavour Group Holdings purchased 51% of WWE and combined it with the UFC. McMahon was designated executive chairman of the new corporation, which appears to have given him more creative freedom. While McMahon was apparently not backstage for the previous week’s SmackDown or this week’s Raw, he is reportedly examining scripts remotely and making his creative presence felt even when he isn’t present.

Jeff Hardy Reportedly not yet recovered

Jeff Hardy returned to AEW programming on Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite after a 10-month absence, but he may not have his return match straight immediately. Hardy just underwent eye surgery and is currently recovering, according to Fightful Select (h/t Upton). As a result, AEW is said to have plans for Hardy in the weeks to come that do not entail wrestling. Hardy made his AEW debut in March 2022 by defending his brother, Matt Hardy, from an onslaught by Andrade El Idolo, Private Party, The Butcher, and The Blade after being released from WWE in December 2021 for declining to enter rehab.

Before the Rey Mysterio feud, Dominik had been rumored for an NXT run

According to Meltzer (via Upton), WWE’s managers gave “serious thought” to sending Dominik in NXT, but there’s presently “no chance” of it happening owing to his celebrity. Dominik made his ring debut at SummerSlam 2020, and he predominantly worked with his father, Rey Mysterio, for the next two years. They were also the first father-son team to ever hold the WWE Tag Team Championships. Dominik’s animosity with Rey and Bad Bunny has persisted since then, and with Bad Bunny hosting Backlash in his native island of Puerto Rico the following month, another big battle might be on the horizon for Dom.

All indications point to Dominik joining up with Damian Priest versus Rey and Bad Bunny in what looks to be the most anticipated battle of the evening. Dominik has excelled as a heel, particularly with the development of his satirical “ex-con” character, which was formed after he spent a brief period of time in jail as part of his plot with Rey. Dominik has routinely garnered the greatest heel responses in the company since WrestleMania, indicating that he has advanced above his requirements for NXT and is now finally establishing his place on the main roster.
