Is CM Punk returning to the WWE? The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) talent was spotted backstage at WWE Raw on Monday, according to PWInsider Elite (via Wrestling Inc.). However, while Punk was on the same airplane as other WWE talent and workers, this is not a hint of his return to WWE.

WWE Raw was taking place in Chicago, and CM Punk was traveling back to his hometown, which is also in the Chicago region. Punk chose to attend WWE Raw in Chicago after conversing with WWE workers and finding that the event was in Chicago. He hung around in the common area for 20 minutes.

Punk also spoke with Triple H and The Miz, according to PWInsider Elite. Punk and The Miz allegedly cleared the air after a heated exchange. People in WWE were overjoyed to see Punk, and many welcomed him warmly. Punk, on the other hand, was ordered to leave by WWE security immediately after entering.

Despite not fighting since September, Punk is still under contract with AEW. Punk, who was the AEW World Champion at the moment, got into a brawl with The Young Bucks. Previously, after defeating Jon Moxley at All Out to win the championship, Punk shouted out different AEW stars during a media scrum. Following the confrontation, AEW President Tony Khan declared the championship vacant. Punk tore a muscle during his match at All Out, forcing him to miss up to eight months of activity.

CM Punk AEW return

AEW had planned for Punk to return on June 21 when AEW Dynamite returns to Chicago, according to Fightful Select. It’s also been claimed that Punk might appear in a new AEW program set to debut this summer. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the new event will run on Saturday night and will last two hours.

Punk, 44, worked for WWE from 2005 to 2014 and rose to prominence as one of the sport’s top talents. Punk won the ECW Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the World Tag Team Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the WWE Championship twice during his career in WWE. Punk joined AEW in 2021 after leaving WWE in 2014 and has won the AEW World Championship twice.

AEW locker room is in divide due to CM Punk’s return

In the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer verified the rumors of CM Punk’s comeback. He did, however, mention that the concerns between the wrestling veteran and others in the AEW locker room had not been handled. There have been rumors that AEW will premiere a new TV program on Saturday. According to Meltzer, the working concept is to split the rosters between Dynamite and the new program to prevent any conflict.

“The working idea was that the Saturday show would star Punk and that they would split crews to a large degree. History does show that the splitting crews never lasts long, but in this case the idea is to ease the dressing room problems in the sense those who have not made up would be kept on different crews and wouldn’t have to interact with each other.”
