Mike Chioda believes Solo Sikoa will reach the level of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in WWE

Mike Chioda is a believer in Solo Sikoa, adding that he’s “on a roll” right now in WWE. The former WWE referee discussed the Bloodline member with Sportskeeda's WrestleBinge.

Solo Sikoa has been on a dominating streak in WWE since making his main roster debut in September at Clash at the Castle. Sikoa has had tremendous victories against Sheamus, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens after being debuted as The Bloodline’s enforcer. Yet even before being called up, he was building a name for himself in “NXT,” becoming North American Champion before being forced to relinquish the title.

WWE clearly views Sikoa as a significant factor in the future. So does veteran WWE referee Mike Chioda, who feels Sikoa possesses all of the necessary abilities to one day compete with WrestleMania main eventers Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

“He’s starting off great and he’s on a roll right now,” Chioda told “WrestleBinge by Sportskeeda.” “When you’ve got the company behind you and you’ve got the talent, you’re gonna go far. You’re gonna get there.”

Can Sikoa, though, go as far as Reigns and Rhodes? While his singles record suggests as much, he is still a long way from catching either. Reigns’ shoulders haven’t been pinned to the canvas since TLC in 2019 – by Baron Corbin. He’s also reaching 1,000 days as the WWE champion. Nevertheless, Rhodes returned to the WWE with a bang last year, serving nothing but a loss to Seth Rollins in their trilogy of encounters before being sidelined with an injury.

Upon his comeback, though, he won the men’s Royal Rumble and will compete for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 39. Yet, if Sikoa maintains his current pace, anything is conceivable – and maybe sooner than you think.

Mike Chioda thinks Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns is too predictable

Mike Chioda has been in a significant number of WrestleMania but worries that the main match this year may be too formulaic. Cody Rhodes will compete against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, and according to the odds, Rhodes is the clear favorite to win. However, from a plot viewpoint, Rhodes’ path to winning WrestleMania makes a lot of logic, and Chioda predicted that Rhodes would probably defy tradition in order to surprise the crowd.

“If I was a writer, I’d probably put Roman over,” Chioda said on his AdFreeShows.com “Monday Mailbag.” He thinks it’s too predictable to put Rhodes over. “That’s what kills me, WrestleMania, they’re so straight and forward.”

Nevertheless, Chioda sees a “Catch-22” in having Reigns defeat Rhodes in order to save his long-held championship.

“I don’t know how they say, ‘Okay, Cody, you get to the main stage now, you’re back with WWE, and we’re going to job you out. I can’t see that either, but if they wanna swerve the fans, you know what I’m saying?”

“But at WrestleMania? They gonna do a swerve?” asked co-host Paul Bromwell.

“Yeah, I know. Then what are you gonna do? Give it to him at Raw? Or SmackDown?” Chioda asked diplomatically. “I wanna say Cody, but I’m gonna say Roman, ’cause hey look, Cody and Roman don’t make these decisions.”

Before adding that Chioda had previously stated that he believed Vince McMahon still had his hands in the creative till Bromwell pointed out that such choices most likely came down to Triple H and most likely Bruce Prichard. Chioda grinned, “Of course.
