WWE performer and internationally famous actor John Cena spoke out about WWE executive chairman Vince McMahon’s sexual harassment issue. The Associated Press’ Dan Gelston questioned Cena whether it’s tough “to reconcile the feelings you have toward” McMahon in light of the claims leveled against the 77-year-old.

“No. I mean, everyone has the right to have their perspective,” Cena responded. “I have the right to have mine. When you love somebody, you take them as imperfectly perfect as they are. We all make mistakes; we all have poor decisions. Lord knows I’ve made my collection of poor choices. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to love somebody. There’s no way I can go on record and say I don’t love Vince McMahon.”

McMahon unexpectedly stepped down as WWE chairman and CEO in July 2022, following a sexual misconduct controversy including alleged hush money payments to many women. He eventually returned to the position, though, and was elected the company’s executive chairman of the board in January.

According to Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online’s Joseph Currier, McMahon appeared backstage during the March 6 episode of “Raw,” which featured Cena-facing wrestler Austin Theory. Cena and Theory will compete for the WWE United States Title at WrestleMania 39 on April 1 and 2 at SoFi Stadium.

John Cena also spoke on possible WWE sale

After McMahon was unanimously elected executive chairman of the board in January, it was reported that he could work to sell the company by the middle of this year. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Disney/ESPN, and UFC parent company Endeavor are among the organizations that have been mentioned among the potential buyers of WWE.

“That’s way above my pay grade,” Cena said about a possible sale. “I just don’t know what’s going on with that. I love Vince McMahon. He’s everything you could want in a great friend, business partner, father, mentor. I love the man. But his business dealings are his business, and what he shares with me, that’s between us. But I don’t know what’s going on with the corporate structure in the WWE or the creative direction of the WWE.”

Why does Cena use the phrase “You can’t see me”

John Cena is one of the most well-known wrestlers in the world. He has participated in at least one match every year since his debut in 2002. He competed in a Smackdown match at the close of last year, successfully extending his streak. Apart from becoming a professional wrestler, the 45-year-old has dabbled in the glitzy world of film, becoming a successful actor in Hollywood. It didn’t stop him from surprising his adoring supporters by entering the ring every now and again.

Everyone loves one John Cena when he waves his hand over his face saying his catchphrase “You Can’t See Me”. But did you know there is a funny story behind the catchphrase coming into existence.

According to WWE, Cena was tinkering with his younger brother Sean, who was checking out hip-hop tracks for his then-upcoming rap album (also titled You Can’t See Me), when the younger Cena sibling began dancing about and waving his hand in front of his face. Sean dared his Cena to do the move during a wrestling match, and John agreed before adding the catchphrase. As a result, one of wrestling’s most recognizable motions was formed. Little did DCEU movie and television actor John Cena realize that his statements would be immortalized in meme form, and hundreds of Twitter visual jokes with him as the star would arise.
