Whether people know anything about professional wrestling or not, WWE sales are one of the hottest topics in the world today. Rumors have been circulating for the past few days that the company is for sale after Vince McMahon announced he would be returning to the board, months after announcing his retirement.

WWE was a locally-owned promotion. Vince McMahon took over the company, buying it from his father and turning it into a global phenomenon. The company was privately owned by McMahon until it went public on October 19, 1999. Vince McMahon announced his retirement days before SummerSlam 2022 following Hush Money and sexual harassment allegations. He abruptly returned to the company after less than a week of his and quickly made a number of board changes.

A lot has changed within the company since Vince McMahon returned to the company. With his boss’s return, many people left the company. Vince McMahon added George Barrios and Kristin Wilson to the board, while two directors, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, left the company. Effective today, the chairman’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, will step down as co-CEO of WWE, leaving Nick Karn as sole CEO. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp said several superstars would happily leave the company if sold to Saudi investors.

However, renowned martial arts journalist Ariel Helwani claims the news that the promotion was sold to Saudi Arabia is not true. However, WWE is still looking for companies interested in acquiring the company. With Stephanie McMahon stepping down, it’s unclear what the future holds for Paul “Triple H” Levesque as head of creative. Since taking over, Levesque has brought back many superstars released under McMahon.

As for the show, Triple H receives a lot of praise and love from fans week after week. Valuations are high and the company has posted record earnings in the past few months. As of January 10, 2023, World Wrestling Entertainment said he was valued at $6.534 billion and earned $1.095 billion. The company was valued at around $5 billion in 2020, so this is a significant valuation jump.

The match between Lesnar and Angle was the culmination of his month-long storyline that began in late 2002 with the formation of the team His Angle. With his new manager Paul Heyman and amateur wrestler standouts Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, Team Angle formed to help the WWE Champion retain his title. According to Angle, Haas and Benjamin won the WWE Tag Team Championship in early 2003 and their play was top of the line for the long term.
