McMahon vs. McAfee seems to be the main event of this year's Showcase of the Immortals.
According to an early rumor by John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee is currently internally scheduled to take place at WWE WrestleMania 38. The latest news comes from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. McMahon has been slated to come on The Pat McAfee Show this Thursday, and it’s thought that the visit would serve as the catalyst for the pair’s ‘Mania rivalry.
As of last night, Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee was listed as a match on the internal schedule for WrestleMania.

For those who are curious, Vince hasn’t laced on his boots since a Raw bout against CM Punk in 2012. Even back then, the fight wasn’t sanctioned and was effectively a weaponized brawl between the two. McMahon’s most recent official match, a WrestleMania XXVI duel against Bret Hart, took place in 2010. Vinny Mac has had an unusual moment of aggressiveness in the years after the Hart fight, most notably taking a stiff head-butt from Kevin Owens in 2017.

Of course, some speculate that this McMahon vs. McAfee battle may potentially see Austin Theory wrestle on behalf of the WWE Chairman, but the recent clues appear to drive home the fact that Vince is truly returning to the ring at the age of 76.
It would be one of many big stories if VKM came back to the ring, along with the return of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Champion vs. Champion as Brock Lesnar takes on Roman Reigns, celebrity involvement from Johnny Knoxville and Logan Paul, and maybe even a return of Cody Rhodes.
In 2010, McMahon lost the Lumberjack Match to WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart at WrestleMania 26. Since then, the 76-year-old hasn’t been in a real match. If you want to know more about him, you can read about his fight with CM Punk on RAW on October 8, 2012, or his fight with Kevin Owens on SmackDown on September 13, 2017.
