In a surprise turn of events, the Rated-R Superstar Edge was kicked out from his own faction The Judgement Day. It happened on RAW when Edge introduced Finn Balor as the newest member of the faction. Once Balor came to the ring, he thanked Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley for hearing him out and welcoming him into the fold. Priest then took the mic and said that the only thing holding them back was Edge and then swiftly proceeded to attack him. They even took Edge outside the ring and put him through the announcer’s table.

There are now reports emerging that this was the plan and it was done at the last minute thanks to Cody Rhodes’ injury. PWInsider has reported that Edge is reportedly undergoing an abrupt character change and has officially been moved to the babyface side of the internal roster. The sudden shift for Edge could be in response to the injury suffered by Cody Rhodes this past Friday. Rhodes is sidelined with a torn right pectoral tendon that was on full display at WWE Hell In A Cell. WWE announced Monday that Rhodes is set to undergo surgery on Wednesday and his recovery is expected to take up to six months.

What next for Edge?

Initially, everyone thought that Edge had suffered an injury and the whole segment was WWE’s way of writing him out of action for a while. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. So what could be next for Edge is anybody’s guess. He could go on and form a tag team with AJ Styles where he could get his revenge on The Judgement Day. Otherwise, assuming that he won’t come back till the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, we could see him go into the match and win the briefcase and get a shot at winning the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship from Roman Reigns.

The other thing which could turn out to be very exciting is The Rated-R Superstar could go on and have a feud with the returning John Cena in a throwback to their earlier days. John Cena is scheduled to return to regular WWE programming on the June 27th episode of Monday Night RAW. Fans would certainly be very excited and happy if that feud was to take place as it would be a high profile match and a good way to integrate Cena back into the fold of things.
