Cody Rhodes is at the top of the mountain in WWE right now. Ever since he came back at WrestleMania 38 where he took on Seth Rollins and beat him in a five star match, things have only been looking up for the American Nightmare.

Cody was on the injury shelf for over six months and made his emphatic return at the Royal Rumble event in January where he outlasted 29 other men to win the match and earn the right to challenge Roman Reigns at the show of shows.

The last wrestler Cody eliminated to win the Rumble was none other than Intercontinental champion Gunther. That experience was very much valued by the IC champ as he recently spoke about the moment.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Gunther revealed, “To go till the end with Cody, that was fantastic. I think Cody is an opponent that is kinda like very well suited for me and the other way around too. So it was good to be in there with him and at least give everybody a taste of what we could do in the future. As of right now, I’m focused on this but it was a chance to almost make that step up and show my face there, if it makes sense.”

Gunther will hope to cross paths with Cody Rhodes in the near future and hopefully that will be for the WWE Universal title.

Cody Rhodes reveals John Cena chat

Recently, when John Cena made his return on WWE RAW, he introduced Cody Rhodes to the fans in the arena and they both shared a warm embrace at the top of the ramp. Cody was speaking to Stadium Astro and revealed what he spoke with Cena at that very moment.

He said, “What he said to me on Raw was, I was telling him if he ever does another match, I would like (to work with him), and I think you could hear him pretty well. He says, ‘I can’t promise that.’ I also didn’t want to make it about myself at that moment, so I just endlessly thanked him, and then he was at the Nightmare Factory a week later talking to our students.”

If Cody Rhodes and John Cena ever face each other in the ring once again, it will be a fight that will be etched in the minds of the fans forever.
