WWE has a lot of fans from all walks of life. From the simple ones to celebrities, everybody seems to love WWE and the product that is served on a weekly basis. While it is only the wrestlers that take on each other, there have been a few instances where athletes from other sports got their hands on a WWE wrestler. In this article, we see a few such instances.
Wayne Rooney is best known for his time in the Premier League with Manchester United and Everton. The former England superstar was not only a great goalscorer but he was like a pitbull on the pitch, never one to back off from a fight.
As part of its UK tour, WWE headed to Manchester for the November 9 episode of Monday Night RAW in 2015. Rooney was there with his son and former United teammate Darren Fletcher when fellow Englishman Wade Barrett started making fun of him.
He also said that he could beat up Rooney but didn’t want to embarrass him in front of his son. That seemed to have ticked off Rooney and England striker planted a hard slap on Barrett’s face much to the cheers of the Manchester crowd.

We all know Shaquille O’Neal from his time in the NBA. The big man is so strong that he would put many wrestlers to shame with his physique and strength. Shaq was once called to be a guest host of Monday Night RAW and it so happened that he got into a physical altercation with the Big Show.
After many years, during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, Shaq made a surprise entry much to the shock of everyone in the arena, including the fans and the wrestlers in the ring. With all the wrestlers moved into a corner, the former LA Lakers centre squared up to the Big Show in what was a truly special WrestleMania moment.
At WrestleMania 31, Ronda Rousey was seated ringside with her friends when The Rock and The Authority (Stephanie McMahon and Triple H) got into an argument. Stephanie slapped the Rock and ordered him to leave the ring and taunted him by saying that he would not hit a woman. The Rock got out of the ring and went and stood next to Rousey which drew a huge response from the crowd.
He got her into the right and Rousey told the People’s Champ that she would be happy to hit Stephanie for him. The Rock then attacked Triple H and Rousey got hold of Stephanie’s arm and threw her out of the ring. With the Authority gone into hiding, the Rock and Rousey celebrated in the ring.
