In the 30-Woman Royal Rumble match on Saturday, January 29th, WWE SmackDown Superstar Aliyah briefly covered her forthcoming debut. When speaking with Denise Salcedo, Aliyah said how thrilled she is to be competing in the event for the first time, with the possibility of kicking off WrestleMania 38 in April.

Aliyah began saying, “It feels incredible because growing up I used to watch Lita, I used to watch Mickie James, I used to watch The Bellas”

“It’s so cool, on one hand, I get to see all the legends and on the other hand, I will look to my right and I will see Liv Morgan who is like my best friend forever so I am just so excited.

“It’s going to be a great time. It’s going to be a crazy dynamic. My favorite part of the Rumble is just not knowing who will be coming out next”

She concluded things by saying, “There’s still a whole bunch of people who haven’t been announced. The surprise within that I am so excited for. That’s always been my favorite part.”

Also regarding her ambition to compete in Saudi Arabia’s Elimination Chamber she said, “We’re heading to Saudi for Elimination Chamber, and no matches have really been announced. It would be an honor to be the first-ever Arab female superstar to perform in the Middle East. That’s always been a huge goal of mine.”

Aliyah on her inspiration

During the interview, Aliyah was questioned about who inspired her wrestling character and ring gear in order to get to know her better.

“Trish Stratus, Mickie James, a little bit of Dolly Parton. Earlier on when I started getting newer gear when I first saw the first season of Euphoria I was obsessed with that show. So I kind of pulled, there’s this character named Maddy, I kind of pulled a bunch of things from her.”

Aliyah was selected for the SmackDown brand in the 2021 Draft. On the November 5 edition of SmackDown, Aliyah made her official main roster debut, appearing in a backstage segment with Jeff Hardy and Sami Zayn. Aliyah made her SmackDown debut the next week, fighting as a face and teaming with Naomi and Sasha Banks to beat Shotzi, Shayna Baszler, and Natalya on the November 12 program. Later that night, Sonya Deville abruptly withdrew her off the SmackDown Survivor Series squad. Toni Storm finally took her position. However, she is given another chance to show off her skills as she competes in her first WWE Royal Rumble.
