All Elite Wrestling (AEW) made their return on pay-per-view with their latest offering titled AEW Revolution.

Aside from being a pretty decent show, Revolution also saw the debut of two wrestlers who were formerly part of rivals WWE.

Swerve Strickland – formerly Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott in WWE – made his debut in a segment. This segment took place after the ‘Face of the Revolution’ ladder match, which was won by Wardlow.

Commentator Tony Schiavone took to the ring to hype up AEW‘s new free agent signing. In doing so, he ended up spoiling the signing too since the contract he held clearly said ‘Swerve’.

Nevertheless, the former voice of WCW hyped up Swerve when he came down to the ring. The two have worked together at MLW, something Schiavone mentioned on the mic.

Swerve took the mic and teased winning all the gold in AEW, before engaging in a back and forth with the crowd using his “Swerve’s house” catchphrase.

It’s hard to see the signing of the former ‘Hit Row’ leader as anything but a good one for AEW. He showed plenty of potential in WWE NXT, both as a face and a heel.

He would have shown what he is capable of on SmackDown too were it not for his untimely release from the company.

Nevertheless, AEW’s roster continues to add strong workers to their ranks.

William Regal shows up at AEW Revolution

They also added another name long-time wrestling fans would be very familiar with – William Regal.

Regal was part of WWE until recently, both as a talent scout and on-screen authority figure. But he was among the many released from WWE’s developmental brand in January.

The decision to do so shocked many, given his pedigree within and knowledge of the business. But it was a decision that was taken nonetheless.

What made this debut an even bigger surprise, however, was that there were no indications it would happen. No media outlets manage to leak the news beforehand.

And his debut came in an amazing manner, right after the match between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. It was the latter who won with a roll-up pinfall, which angered Danielson.

Thus, the two continued to duke it out but Regal stormed out to stop them. He first slapped Moxley in the face before doing the same to Danielson and asking them to shake hands.

And it seems the Danielson-Moxley dojo has a new head.
