Adam Scherr, formerly known as Braun Strowman as part of WWE, is headed to Dubai alongside his Free the Narrative cohort EC3. Scherr and EC3 will compete as a tag team in Dubai on March 7. The event, hosted by the United Wrestling Nation United Arab Emirates is being dubbed as “the biggest wrestling event in the Middle East.” The company, as well as Scherr and EC3’s management, confirmed the news to CBS Sports.

Scherr made his first post-WWE wrestling appearance opposite EC3 in the latter’s Free The Narrative II event. “The Titan” Scherr subsequently joined forces with EC3 at Final Battle on Dec. 11, Ring of Honor’s final event prior to the company’s hiatus.

Scherr was released by WWE on June 2, 2021. His final match with the company was a triple threat WWE championship match at WWE Backlash. Scherr had a very successful six-year main roster run with WWE. He debuted as part of The Wyatt Family and subsequently captured the WWE universal and intercontinental championships, plus two runs with the Raw tag team titles. Other accomplishments include winning the Greatest Royal Rumble, the 2018 Money in the Bank ladder match and the 2019 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

EC3 returned to the WWE in 2018 utilizing a gimmick that brought him much success as part of Impact Wrestling. He captured the 24/7 championship four times prior to his release in April 2020 as part of WWE’s budget cuts. He subsequently returned to Impact, before finding a home in ROH and building on his own Free The Narrative events and brand.

Elimination Chamber set to return to WWE, but in Saudi Arabia

The Elimination Chamber is one of WWE’s most known gimmick matches. And in recent years, the company has used the match to sell a show too.

The live event takes place as the last one before WrestleMania. And it will take place in 2022 as well, but there’s a twist; the show will be held in Saudi Arabia instead.

“The General Entertainment Authority, in cooperation with WWE, has announced that the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event will be held at the world’s largest pillarless superdome in Jeddah, on Saturday, Feb.19, 2022. More details of the event will be announced in the coming weeks,” WWE said in a statement.

“The Elimination Chamber show complements the commitment of the General Entertainment Authority to provide the most famous international events and entertainment shows.

“This show was preceded by several previous partnerships with WWE to present international shows in the kingdom, which achieved remarkable local and international success, including the recent WWE Crown Jewel show in Riyadh Season 2021 and WWE Super ShowDown in the previous Riyadh Season in early 2020.”
