The United States of America will be looking to build some momentum in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 as they take on Thailand on Saturday. Following an explosive start to the tournament, the North American nation produced some mixed results over the last few games. Hence, they will be eager to rectify them and go on a good run of form in the coming matches. The tournament is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year. It started on 23rd September and will end on 15th October.
In Phase 1, the USA won their opening four matches but suffered a 3-0 humbling against Serbia in their next match. In the end, they managed 12 points from five games to finish second in Pool C. Then the USA began Phase 2 with a win over the Dominican Republic before losing to co-hosts Poland. On the other hand, Thailand have also not made the best of the start in Phase 2. The Asian country lost their opening two games against Canada and Germany.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
