Serbia will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on the United States of America in the semifinals. Serbia are the defending champion in this competition and are just two games away from retaining the title. They are the only side to not lose any games in the competition till now. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year, and the tournament which started on 23rd September will end on 15th October.
Serbia have been mighty impressive in both Phase 1 and 2 of this competition. At the end of Phase 2, they managed to gather the most number of points than any other team in the competition with 26 from nine games. If Serbia finished Pool F at the first spot, the USA sealed second place with 20 points from nine matches. Both sides won their respective quarterfinal matches in contrasting fashion. Serbia had to survive a thriller against co-hosts Poland, while the USA had it comfortable against Turkey.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
