The United States of America have a difficult test against co-hosts Poland in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. The USA have been supremely impressive in the competition till now, however, they will be fully aware of the tricky task at hand. Backed by the home support, Poland will be eager to give the USA a run for their money in the upcoming clash. The tournament is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year, and it will take place from 23rd September to 15th October.
The USA won their opening four games and were cruising at the top of the table. However, in their next match, they suffered a 3-0 humbling against Serbia. Overall, the USA managed 12 points from five games to finish second in Pool C during Phase 1. They started Phase 2 on a positive note, beating the Dominican Republic 3-1. On the other hand, Poland finished fourth in Pool B after managing ten points from five games. The tournament co-hosts won three and lost two matches in Phase 1. They lost their last match to Serbia 3-0.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
