The United States of America and the Dominican Republic will be going up against each other in an intriguing Phase 2 clash of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. Both sides are heading into this match on the back of losing their last game in Phase 1. Hence, they will be eager to start Phase 2 on a positive note by getting the maximum number of points. The Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year, and it will take place from 23rd September to 15th October.
The USA were pretty impressive in the competition till the last match. They won their opening four games and were cruising at the top of the table. However, they suffered a 3-0 humbling against Serbia. Overall, the USA have 12 points from five games to sit second in Pool C. On the other hand, the Dominican Republic finished third in Pool B with 11 points from five matches. They won three and lost two. In their last fixture, the Dominican Republic suffered a 3-2 defeat to Thailand.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
