Turkey will be eager to maintain their impressive run of late in Phase 2 when they take on Germany in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. On Tuesday, the Turkish side will be the heavy favourites for obvious reasons. They are on an impressive four-game winning streak in Phase 1, which is something they would also hope to carry forward to Phase 2. The Women’s World Championship 2022, which is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year, started on 23rd September and will end on 15th October.
In Pool B, Turkey emerged as the surprise package. In the opener, Turkey were drawn against Thailand. There was not much to separate the two sides and it was clearly visible with the way the game unfolded. In the end, the Asian country prevailed 3-2. Since then, Turkey won their remaining four matches to finish top of Pool B with 11 points. On the other hand, Germany finished fourth in Pool C after managing seven points from five games. They won two and lost three games.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
