The Dominican Republic will hope to continue their strong start to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on Turkey. The upcoming match will see both teams heading into this fixture on the back of securing a win in their last encounter. As for the Dominican Republic, it was their second win of the tournament, while Turkey managed to get only their first win of the competition. The tournament which is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year will take place from 23rd September to 15th October. 

In the opener, Turkey took on Thailand in an intriguing clash. There was very little to separate the two sides and it was evident with the way the match unfolded. In the end, the Asian nation prevailed 3-2. They bounced back from the setback to get the first win in the last match against South Korea. On the other hand, the Dominican Republic defeated Croatia in their last match and before that they had beaten South Korea. In the overall standings, the Dominican Republic top Pool B with six points, while Turkey are third with four points.

FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 Volleyball Format

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
