Despite the tricky nature of their group, Canada managed to secure eight points from five games to finish third.
Turkey will be hoping to continue their recent run of good form when they take on Canada in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 on Wednesday. After starting the tournament slowly, Turkey found their rhythm as they embarked on an impressive winning run. They will hope to continue the same in their second match of Phase 2, however, it will not be a straight-forward affair. Despite Canada’s inconsistencies, they have the capability to provide a tough fight to any team on a given day, thereby making the upcoming contest an interesting watch.
In the Pool B opener, Turkey were drawn against a challenging Thailand. There was very little to separate the two sides and it was evident with the way the match unfolded. In the end, the Asian country prevailed 3-2. Since then, Turkey won their remaining four matches to finish top of Pool B with 11 points. On the other hand, Canada were placed alongside some difficult teams in the form of the United States and Serbia in Pool C. Despite the tricky nature of their group, they managed to secure eight points from five games to finish third.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
