Thailand will be keen to continue the positive start they made to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they play Croatia. Both these sides played their second group game on Tuesday before playing again immediately a day later. On Tuesday, Croatia lost to the Dominican Republic 3-0, while Thailand were beaten by the same scoreline by co-hosts Poland. Hence, the upcoming match will be extremely crucial for both sides from Pool B.
In the opener, Thailand were up against Turkey. There was not much to separate the two teams and it was clearly visible with the way both sides played on that day. After a closely-fought contest, Thailand prevailed 3-2. Meanwhile, Croatia were part of opening day duty when they came up against co-hosts Poland. Despite Croatia putting up a brave fight, Poland eventually won the match 3-1 to make a winning start to the tournament.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
