Thailand will be looking to climb up the Pool B standings when they face South Korea in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. The Thursday evening game will see Thailand as the heavy favourites and their form in the tournament also justifies the tag. Having won two of the three games played till now in the competition, Thailand will go into this clash as favourites against a side which lost both its opening matches. The competition which is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year will take place from 23rd September to 15th October.
In the opener, Thailand came up against a tricky Turkish side. There was very little to separate the two sides and it was evident with the way the match unfolded. In the end, the Asian country prevailed 3-2. However, they lost the next fixture 3-0 to the tournament co-hosts Poland. But Thailand bounced back from that setback brilliantly to defeat Croatia 3-0. On the other hand, South Korea are enduring a difficult start to the competition. After being beaten 3-0 in their opener by the Dominican Republic, South Korea lost by the same margin in their last game against Turkey. As it stands, Thailand are fourth in Pool B with five points, while South Korea are at the bottom with zero points.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
