Serbia will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on Thailand on Friday. The European nation is the only remaining unbeaten side in the competition now. They are the defending champions of the tournament and are well on course to mount another serious title challenge. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year. It started on 23rd September and will end on 15th October.
It is to be noted that Serbia are the current holder of this title after winning it four years ago against Italy. They started their title defence in impressive fashion in this edition, winning all five Pool C matches to get 14 points. What makes it impressive is that four of their five victories were 3-0. They began Phase 2 with two convincing wins over Poland and the Dominican Republic to sit on top of Pool F. Meanwhile, Thailand have started Phase 2 with successive defeats to occupy the sixth spot in Pool F. They have to be at the top of their game to get anything out of the match on Friday.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals.
