England started with a 2-0 victory over Solomon Islands before beating neighbours Scotland by the same scoreline. However, they lost their final group game to Vanuatu 2-0. Meanwhile, New Zealand defeated two African sides – Kenya and Ghana – in their opening fixtures before losing out to Canada in their last game. Supporters can expect to see a hardly-fought battle in this clash, as there is very little to separate both sides.

A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August. The men’s and women’s sections will each have three pools with four teams in them. The knockout matches start on the fifth of August with the quarterfinals, the next day will be the semifinals and the medal matches will happen on the seventh of August (Sunday). Each match is played with a best of three sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, and the third set is played to 15 points. The first team to reach 21 points – or 15 points – with a two-point advantage wins the set.
