Italy and Poland will be facing each other to secure third place in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League on Sunday night. This is not the match both teams would have wanted to play when they reached the last four of the competition. However, the losing semifinalists now have to be content with fighting for third place. In the round one matches, there was not much to separate these two sides, with both teams finishing their set of games with identical records. Hence, it will be difficult to call a winner in this clash. When both sides faced each other earlier in the competition last month, Italy won 3-1.
At the end of round one matches, these two sides occupied the top two spots in the table, with Italy taking the first position. There was hardly much to separate them, with both teams managing 31 points from 12 games, having won ten games and losing twice. In the semifinal, Italy lost to France 3-0 and Poland lost by a similar margin to the USA. As a result, France and the USA will fight it out for the top spot, while Italy and Poland will face each other to secure third place in the competition.
