Italy will be eager to repeat their victory over China when the two sides face each other in the quarterfinals of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 on Tuesday. It has only been a mere couple of days since the teams played one another in the competition. Italy won the game convincingly and they will hope to repeat it again on Tuesday. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year. It began on 23rd September and will end on 15th October.
Placed in Pool A during Phase 1, Italy kept consistently producing top-notch performances as their opponents struggled to keep them at bay. Overall, the Europeans won all five matches they played in Pool A to get a total of 15 points. At the end of Phase 2, Italy finished at top of the Pool E to get 25 points from nine matches. They have lost only once till now in the tournament. Meanwhile, China finished fourth in Pool E with 20 points from the same number of matches as their opponent. They won seven and lost two, with one of those defeats coming against Italy recently.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
