Italy will be taking on China in Thursday’s first quarterfinal of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League. The Italians have been excellent in the competition till now, performing at a very high level of consistency. They will be up against another in-form side in China who also ended the round one matches on the front foot. Hence, the upcoming quarterfinal match is evenly poised, with the European side holding a slight edge. However, the Asian side cannot be underestimated since they have already found a way to beat the same opposition earlier in the tournament.

On the other hand, China are on a three-game winning run coming into this fixture. They finished fourth with 26 points from 12 games, having won eight and lost four.

In the preliminary round, 16 women’s teams will compete in pools of 8 teams under the revised format. During the pool stage, each team plays 12 matches. Eight teams will then advance to the competition’s final knockout round. The Finals will include the seven strongest teams, with the finals host – Turkey – entering the knockout round as the top-placed team. It will consist of eight matches in total – four quarterfinals, two semi-finals, and bronze and gold medal matches.
