Italy will be taking on Brazil in the second semifinal of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. The Thursday night clash will be difficult to call since both teams will be heading into this match on the back of an impressive run of results in the competition till now. They have been almost unstoppable on many occasions as other sides struggled to match their levels. Hence, the upcoming contest will be an intriguing watch. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year. It started on 23rd September and will end on 15th October.
In Phase 1, Brazil consistently produced noteworthy results as they won four of their five games to finish third in Pool D. Their only loss was against Japan. At the end of Phase 2, Brazil finished second in Pool E with 23 points from nine matches. In the quarterfinals, they got revenge on Japan by beating them 3-2. On the other hand, Italy were equally impressive in their matches. Italy finished at top of the Pool E to get 25 points from nine matches at the end of Phase 2. They got past China 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
