After playing five games each the Germans occupy seventh spot with seven points while the Dutch sit one place above them with nine points courtesy of a superior Sets Ratio record.
Germany will take on Netherlands in a FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nation’s League fixture on Friday. After the completion of Volleyball Nations League’s first week’s games from June 8 to June 13th the second week’s action will run from June 21 to June 26 in Bulgaria and the Philippines. A total of 32 matches, 16 per venue will be played in Quezon City and Sofia respectively. Both sides have had similar kinds of results in the competition, so far, after playing five games each they are placed in the top half of the 16-team table with three wins each. The Germans occupy seventh spot with seven points while the Dutch sit one place above them with nine points courtesy of a superior Sets Ratio record.
The second week didn’t start pretty well for Germany as they were thrashed 3-0 by Italy on Wednesday. The Italians dominated every set and won comfortably with a scoreline of 25-16, 25-21, 25-22. It would have been a surprise result for the German’s considering the impressive performances they had delivered in the first week by winning three of their four games. Germany started with a 25-19, 25-20, 30-28 before losing 3-1 to Argentina. Then, they overcame Bulgaria and Serbia by 3-2 scorelines to get three wins out of four games. Netherlands, on the other hand, began their second week of VNL with a thumping 3-0 win over Slovenia on Tuesday. The scoreboard read 25-17, 25-21, 26-24 in favour of the Dutch. Prior to that, Netherlands did not have a great start, losing their opening two games against Japan and USA respectively before bouncing back to defeat Iran and Australia towards the end of first week.
