The Dominican Republic will be eagerly looking to bounce back from their recent setbacks when they take on Germany in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022. They have not started Phase 2 on the best possible note after losing both their opening matches. Meanwhile, Germany will be coming into this match on the back of getting an impressive victory. Thereby, the Europeans will be filled with confidence ahead of this fixture. The Dominican Republic had their positives and negatives in the tournament till now. They finished third in Pool B with 11 points from five matches, having won three and lost two. However, they lost both their matches in Phase 2 to currently sit in the seventh position in Pool F. Germany are occupying a place below them on eight in the same group. They started Phase 2 with a defeat to Turkey but overcame Thailand in their last match.

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
