The action is coming thick and fast in beach volleyball of the Commonwealth Games 2022. Even though the group phase is about to end, fans can brace themselves for the knockout round. However, for now, there were interesting results happening in the group matches on Wednesday. The defending gold medal winners in both men’s and women’s categories won their respective matches. Other than these two outcomes, there were plenty of other eye-catching results happening on Wednesday too.
There were a total of six matches happening and two of those were in women’s categories. The biggest one was defending gold medal winner Canada taking on New Zealand. The Canadians won the clash 2-0. Earlier in the day, Kenya edged past Ghana 2-1. In the men’s section, the notable result was defending gold winners Australia beating Rwanda 2-0. The quarter-finals will begin from Friday and the line-up will be available at the end of Thursday’s matches.

A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August. The men’s and women’s sections will each have three pools with four teams in them. The knockout matches start on the fifth of August with the quarterfinals, the next day will be the semifinals and the medal matches will happen on the seventh of August (Sunday). Each match is played with a best of three sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, and the third set is played to 15 points. The first team to reach 21 points – or 15 points – with a two-point advantage wins the set.
