The group phase of beach volleyball in the Commonwealth Games 2022 is nearing its end. Fans have been witnessing a lot of entertaining action-packed encounters till now. The same trend continued on Wednesday with plenty of interesting results happening in both men’s and women’s events. The defending gold medallists in both men’s and women’s categories won their respective matches, however, the hosts suffered a stunning defeat.
In total, six matches happened on Wednesday and four of those were in men’s sections. It all began with defending gold medal winners, Australia beating Rwanda 2-0 and Cyprus getting the better of Tuvalu by the same scoreline. Later, South Africa edged past Maldives 2-1, while New Zealand defeated hosts England 2-0. In the women’s results, the standout result was Canada beating New Zealand 2-0. The quarter-finals will begin from Friday and the line-up will be available at the end of Thursday’s matches.
