The fifth edition of the annual women’s international volleyball competition known as the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League 2023 will take from May 30 to July 16, 2023. And the championship round will be held at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, in the United States. As a result of the outcomes of the 2022 Nations League and 2022 Challenger Cup, debutants Croatia took the place of Belgium in this edition.

The top 16 countries from four confederations will compete in the fourth edition of the prestigious international indoor tournament, Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which will begin on Tuesday, May 30, and is put on by the FIVB, the organization that governs the sport. Following the United States’ victories in the first three competitions (in 2018 and 2019, and 2021), the defending champions Italy won the event for the first time in 2022 with a decisive 3-0 victory over Brazil in the championship match.  Up until the second of July, the preliminary round matches will be held in Bangkok (Thailand), Suwon (South Korea), Hong Kong (China), Brasilia (Brazil), and Antalya (Turkey). The 2023 Women’s VNL’s final round is scheduled to take place from July 12 to July 16 in Arlington, Texas (United States).

Last year, Canada’s attempt at a comeback at the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Phase 2 in Łódź resulted in a deflating 3-2 loss to the host Poland. The Canadian team was in a good position to win in the fourth set, but their attempt to rebound from losing the first set by winning three straight failed. The team of head coach Shannon Winzer fell behind early 18-25 but overcame the raucous home crowd’s cheers to mount a comeback at 2-1 with resounding victories of 25-19 and 25-16 in the second and third sets, respectively. However, a subsequent 23-25 defeat allowed the Polish team to regain momentum and win the tiebreaker 15-5.
