Bulgaria are heading into the tie on the back of a disappointing 3-1 defeat to USA ,while, the South Americans thrashed Iran 3-0 in their previous match.
The second week of FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League is coming to an end with Brazil taking on Bulgaria in the final fixture of the week before heading to a break of seven days. Bulgaria are heading into the tie on the back of a disappointing 3-1 defeat to USA on Saturday while, a day before that, the South Americans thrashed Iran 3-0. Brazil sit at the seventh spot in the 16-team table with 12 points from four wins while the Europeans are languishing at the 15th spot with six points. On paper, Brazil will be the clear favourites for the upcoming clash. However, Bulgaria cannot be written off so easily, as they have nothing to lose and could come out all guns blazing on the final matchday of the week.
Bulgaria had a forgettable start to the tournament after losing the opening four fixtures. However, they got their first victory in the tournament against Iran in their first match of the second week. The Bulgarians couldn’t keep up their momentum and suffered two successive defeats against Australia and USA. Against the USA, the scoreboard read 12-25, 25-20, 24-26, 23-25. Brazil on the other hand, didn’t have a great start to the second week, losing 3-1 to Poland. But then, the South Americans got their acts together to register two consecutive victories and that too in convincing fashion, without losing a set, against Serbia and Iran.
